HCR10-1007 is a terrible idea
cc: Sen. Moe Keller Education funding is important. However, the proposal to get voter authorization to "temporarily" divert lottery proceeds from GOCO to education funding would have all sorts of negative effects and unintended consequences. The diversion of funds away from open space may be promised to be "temporary," but I suspect that "temporary" would become "permanent." Even if I'm wrong, the temporary diversion would have long-lasting, possibly permanent, deleterious effects. Lottery funds were designated for open space use precisely because open space and the environment tend to treated as "we'll get to that later" in everyday politics. Since "later" never happens, we voters decided to fund Open Space on our own, without tax dollars. Now a well-run structure and process has been built around open space funding and maintenance. Diversion of lottery funds away from open space would upset that entire structure, and it would likely never be the same. Sizable chu

SB-191 - Educational Reform
Max: Subsequent to our meeting at Pizza Hut a month ago, I have met with numerous agencies to address the health, well-being and learning of our youth. The Colorado Kids Outdoors Coalition made up of Dept of Interior agencies, State and Local Natural Resource agencies, Kaiser and Anthem Blue Cross, as well as, numerous Outdoor Industry businesses is on track to create a new form of education that integrates the whole child - mind (cognative, emotional) and body utilizing the outdoors as a learning environment. This effort will not only increase the health of the student, it will increase their performance (numerous studies prove academic performance increases with physical activity. I would suggest you contact Dr. Michele Haney at Red Rocks Community College about the RISE project already funded from the Community First Foundation. It is going to develop a new platform for teachers to teach. Rather than implementing more administration and overhead, investment should be made towa

Vote NO! on SB191
As a Colorado educator in Southern Colorado, I felt I needed to contact you about SB191. I am writing to try to convince you to vote NO! on this bill. I am a second grade teacher with Fountain Fort Carson D-8. My school is located on Fort Carson the army post. I have been teaching at this school for five years. These are children who deal with the uncertainty of what will happen to their father, mother of both while they are serving in Afghanistan or Iraq. Most of these children have had to say good-bye to one or both of their parents for their fifth deployment. The stress they are living through impacts their ability to focus and learn. The schools and the teachers are their safe harbor. Not only do I teach these children everyday, but wipe their tears and give them hugs and support when they have not heard from their moms or dads. We deal with suicides, Post Traumatic Stress and death on a daily basis. Do you really think my job should be tethered to the performance of chi

CEA
I believe the CEA is a lot of the problem. The Unions job is to protect and increase the Pay of Union members. As far the the CEA is concerned the students come last. I am a former Union member and understand the Union mentality. Submitted By: Ken Park
